A calm move is a planned move. After thousands of relocations, we've distilled the process into a timeline that keeps you ahead of every deadline — from the first donation bag to the final walkthrough.

Eight to six weeks out

Book your mover first — the best crews fill month-end slots fast. Start decluttering room by room: donate, sell, or discard anything you don't want to pay to transport. Gather documents (leases, IDs, medical records) into one folder that travels with you, not the truck.

Four to two weeks out

Begin packing non-essentials: books, decor, off-season clothes. Label every box with its destination room and a one-line contents note. Notify utilities, internet, banks, subscriptions, and your post office. Confirm parking and elevator access at both addresses.

Moving week

Pack a first-night kit — chargers, toiletries, bedding, kettle, documents, and a change of clothes. Defrost the freezer, drain fuel from power tools, and confirm arrival times with your crew. Photograph electronics setups before unplugging.

Moving day

Walk the crew through your home, point out fragiles, then let them work. Do a final sweep of every closet, cabinet, and the attic before the truck leaves. At the new place, check boxes against the inventory as they come off the truck.
